The Team
The We Are All Philanthropists initiative began nearly a decade ago with founder Carol Havens’ vision to nurture a love for philanthropy in children and adults alike. Carol and longtime friend and mentor, Jamie Levy of JDLevy Associates, spent many years discussing the best approach to teaching philanthropy to youth.
In 2022, Cara Steinkuhl joined Carol in developing the inaugural curriculum of We Are All Philanthropists. Despite initial challenges in curriculum development, their passion laid the groundwork during a beta test with at-risk youth. In 2023, Tami Whitmore and Keron Dave joined the team. Tami’s expertise in curriculum development and marketing proved invaluable, refining and guiding the initiative’s direction. Addition of Keron Dave to help with project management and strategy, further propelled the initiative forward with a clear vision, ensuring adherence to timelines
and overcoming challenges.
These four women, each bringing unique expertise, co-authored We Are All Philanthropists, showcasing the power of authentic giving. From Carol’s initial vision to the initiative’s national impact, their dedication exemplifies the belief that no dream is too late or grand to achieve.

CAROL HAVENS
Carol, a retired Registered Nurse and retired Nonprofit Specialist, remains very active in her community. She is the author of When The Time Comes, a comprehensive guide to help families prepare for end of life and also assists individuals in developing advanced care planning directives. In addition, with over 25 years in the nonprofit field, she continues to mentor nonprofit leaders, boards and organizations towards best practices. Her passion for teaching others the true meaning of philanthropy—love of people—led her to assemble this amazing team in creating the We Are All Philanthropists initiative.
CARA STEINKUHL
Cara is a dedicated advocate for positive change and compassionate service. Transitioning to nonprofit work in 2018, Cara became Director of the Jim and Carol Havens Family Foundation in 2022, where she mentors, advocates, and leads with strategic vision.
TAMI WHITMORE
Tami is a dynamic educator and entrepreneur with extensive leadership in education, marketing, and curriculum development. Tami collaborates with We Are All Philanthropists on inclusive education initiatives. Tami is driven by a passion for positive change, advocating for learning, creativity, and community enrichment.
KERON DAVE
Keron integrates passion and purpose. Motivated by family legacy and inspired by an encounter with Carol, Keron aims to remove barriers to giving through spreading awareness about the true meaning of philanthropy. As co-leader of the initiative and co-author of the book We Are All Philanthropists, Keron aims to emphasize the significance of philanthropy at workplace through acts of kindness and mutual respect.
